KERATIN BONDS

HALODREAMSSEPT24(74).jpg

Keratin bond hair extensions are a premium, strand-by-strand extension method. Each extension is bonded to the natural hair using a keratin-based adhesive that is gently melted with a specialised tool, allowing for precise placement and a seamless, natural finish.

Your stylist will carefully select keratin bond extensions to perfectly match your desired colour, texture, and length. These extensions are applied in individual 1g strands, each finished with a keratin bond at the top.

Using a specialised heated fusion tool, the keratin bond is gently softened and attached to a small section of your natural hair, typically close to the root. The softened keratin is then wrapped and rolled between the stylist’s fingertips to form a secure, discreet bond.

This process is repeated section by section across the head until the desired fullness, length, and overall look is achieved. Each extension is strategically placed to ensure a natural appearance and seamless blend with your own hair.

  • Keratin bonds are made of natural protein, which mimics the structure of human hair. This results in a seamless blend with your natural hair, providing a realistic and natural-looking finish. When properly applied, the bonds are virtually undetectable, allowing for a flawless appearance.

  • When installed and maintained correctly, Keratin bond extensions can last for several months. The durable keratin bonds securely attach the extensions to your natural hair, providing longevity compared to some other extension methods. This means you can enjoy your new look for an extended period without frequent replacements.

  • Keratin bond extensions offer versatility in styling. You can wash, blow-dry, straighten, and curl your hair as usual with these extensions. The bonds are heat-friendly and durable, allowing you to achieve various hairstyles without worrying about damage or slippage.

  • Keratin bonds come in various lengths, colours, and textures, allowing for customisation to match your natural hair perfectly. Whether you're looking to add length, volume, or highlights, Keratin bonds can be tailored to your desired look, seamlessly blending with your existing hair for a cohesive appearance.

  • Once installed, Keratin bond extensions require minimal maintenance. Regular brushing and gentle care are needed to keep the extensions tangle-free and in good condition. Unlike clip-in extensions, which need to be removed daily, Keratin bonds offer the convenience of semi-permanent wear, reducing the hassle of constant application and removal.

REASONS TO CHOOSE

KERATIN BONDS

HOW MANY GRAMS OF KERATIN BONDS DO I NEED?

This is one of the most common questions we receive from clients considering keratin bond extensions.

It’s an understandable one. the number of bonds used plays a key role in achieving the right balance of length, volume, and overall finish. The exact amount required varies from person to person and depends on several factors, including hair type, density, thickness, and the desired result.

Clients with fine or thinner hair typically require fewer bonds to maintain a natural look and avoid placing unnecessary weight on the hair. Those with thicker or denser hair may need a higher number of bonds to achieve full coverage and a seamless blend. Length and volume goals also play a significant role, with more dramatic transformations generally requiring a greater number of bonds than subtle enhancements.

At our salon, every keratin bond application is completely tailored. During your consultation, we assess your natural hair, discuss your goals, and determine the optimal number of bonds to achieve the best possible result. We take the time to explain our recommendations clearly, often using visual references, so you feel confident and informed throughout the process. For personalised advice specific to your hair and desired outcome, we recommend booking a complimentary consultation with one of our experienced stylists. This allows us to assess your hair in person, discuss your vision, and provide expert guidance on the number of keratin bonds needed to achieve your ideal result.

50 - 75 grams

would be for volume only, generally no length

100 - 150 grams

may be sufficient for adding volume or length.

150 - 200 grams

may be needed for thicker hair or more dramatic transformations on shorter hair.

To determine the number of keratin bonds needed for your hair, the following factors are considered:

Hair thickness
Thicker hair often requires a higher number of bonds to ensure balanced coverage and proper support for the extensions.

Desired volume and length
Clients wanting noticeable volume or significant length will typically need more bonds to achieve their desired result.

Natural hair density
Finer or lower-density hair generally requires fewer bonds for a seamless blend, while denser hair may need more bonds for even distribution and coverage.

Application method
The chosen application technique can influence the number of bonds required. Strand-by-strand applications, for example, may require a greater number of bonds compared to other extension methods.

Professional consultation
A stylist specialising in keratin bond extensions will assess your natural hair and discuss your goals during a consultation to provide personalised recommendations on the ideal number of bonds for you.

  • Start brushing from the bottom, gently working your way up to remove any tangles. Avoid pulling or tugging on the extensions, as this can cause them to loosen or even come out.

  • Wash your hair and extensions gently to prevent tangling and shedding. Use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner, focusing on the roots and avoiding the weft area as much as possible. Rinse thoroughly to remove any product residue.

  • Apply a leave-in conditioner or a lightweight hair oil to the mid-lengths and ends of your hair, avoiding the weft area. This helps keep the extensions moisturised and prevents them from becoming dry or brittle.

  • Allow your hair and extensions to air dry whenever possible. If you need to use heat styling tools, use a heat protectant spray and set them to a low or medium heat setting. Avoid applying direct heat to the weft area to prevent damage.

  • When styling your hair, be gentle and avoid using excessive force or tension on the weft area. Avoid tight hairstyles, such as high ponytails or tight updos, that can pull on the extensions.

  • Schedule regular maintenance appointments with your hairstylist who installed the extensions. They can check the condition of the weft and reposition any loose or slipping extensions. It's essential to address any maintenance issues promptly to avoid further damage.

Depending on your growth, we suggest booking a weft pull-up every 6-8 weeks.
